She was cherished unconditionally by her stepfather, Ralph Burdette, since the age of two. On Monday, August 4, 2025 Lana transitioned peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Lana was the firstborn child of both her parents and the eldest grandchild of Laura B. Freeman. She instilled in her siblings the sense of being the first grandchild, first niece, and number one. Her grandmother treated her as such throughout her life.

Lana took great pride in being the eldest of her biological siblings. She assumed the role of a second mother to them, providing unwavering care and support. She dedicated her life to them, offering unconditional love and guidance. Alana embodied the qualities of a strong and stern older sister, teaching her siblings essential life lessons such as fighting, protection, and providing. She was particularly devoted to her baby brother, Sharod, whom she regarded as a son. Alana played a multifaceted role in Sharod's life, including naming his only son, Kiyon Nyfee.

Lana shared an unbreakable and indestructible bond with her only biological sister, Taikeemah. Despite their separation, they maintained a strong connection even in death. Taikeemah made it her mission to ensure that Lana's final days were filled with love, happiness, joy, and surrounded by her family and friends. She accompanied Lana to her passing, providing her with the comfort and support she needed.

The significant age gap between Keema and Lana, from Keema's birth, fostered a unique and nurturing relationship. Lana, who treated Keema as her own baby, instilled in her a profound sense of love and comfort. Their connection was so strong that they could engage in deep conversations with their eyes in crowded spaces, finishing each other's sentences effortlessly. They possessed an innate ability to provide emotional support without fully comprehending the reasons behind their actions. Their love for each other was unwavering, a testament to the values instilled in them by their mother, who emphasized the Importance of family unity and providing unwavering support.

Lana's role extended beyond being Keema's sister; she acted as a second parent to her sons, raising them with love and guidance. She consistently demonstrated her presence in her nephew's life, attending numerous events, including the birth of Keema's first grandson, where she stood by her nephew's side, offering unwavering support during a challenging time. When Keema was overwhelmed with depression after losing their father, Lana took on the responsibility of caring for Malik for two years, ensuring that Keema received the emotional support she needed.

Lana's selfless sacrifice extended to ensuring the birth of her niece, Miracle. She prioritized her niece's well-being, even at the expense of her own health. Lana's love for her family was boundless, and her memory continues to inspire them.

As the eldest of her biological siblings, Lana also had close relationships with her three oldest step-siblings and their children (her nephews and nieces). They treated each other with love and respect, forming a strong familial bond.

Throughout her life, Lana cultivated remarkable relationships that touched the lives of many. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering loyalty made her a beloved figure. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and cherished her. Her legacy of love and protection will continue to inspire generations to come. Their love was unconditional and timeless, even in the face of her passing.
