I just recently learned that Alayne had passed. We went to college together and took science classes together. In a class full of smart students Alayne stood out as particularly bright and hard working. She had a kind heart and she loved children but she was strong and feisty and was always ready to defend her opinions. I remember that she wanted to play hockey and she was indignant that it was not an option for her back then. I also remember thinking that if she had played she probably would have spent a lot of time in the penalty box! It sounds like after college she continued to live a life of achievement and service, a life very well lived. My deep condolences to her family.

Fond memories of Alayne as a colleague at Marshfield Clinic. Dr. Van Erem helped so many children and their parents. Condolences to her family!

Alayne and I were tablemates at meal time. I looked forward to sitting with her at all meals. We always had an amazing good time, from building tiny structures from the cubed fruit from the fruit cup, to laughing hilariously about who knows what. Everyone in the room knew we were there. I will dearly miss my time with Alayne, and now I sit alone at our table.
