Albert Alexander Obituary

Albert Kirk Alexander Sr., 82, resident of Forest Hills, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025, at Self Regional Hospital.

Kirk was born on February 26, 1942, in Wetumpka, Alabama and was the son of the late Robert Milton and Lorine Kirk Alexander.

Widower of the late Judy Elliott Alexander, Sara Will Alexander, and Linda Cook Alexander.

He was a 1960 graduate of Vernon High School, Alabama and a 1964 graduate of Florence State College, now known as the University of North Alabama, where he received a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry. While in grade school, he earned the highest honor of the Boy Scouts of America, The Eagle Scout Award.

Kirk served as a Captain in the US Army and was a Post Commander of the Army Reserve Unit in Greenwood. In addition, he worked as an engineer with Monsanto/Solutia of Greenwood for more than 40 years.

Kirk was a devoted Christian family man whom loved reading his Bible, spending time with family and serving the Lord. He was a faithful member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and University of Alabama football fan.

He is survived by his brother, Mike Alexander (Nancy) and Brother-In-Law Don Gilmer.

He is survived by his two sons of Charleston, SC, Kirk Alexander Jr. (Renee) and Keith Alexander (fiancé Shannon). Surviving step-children, Rhonda Spradlin (Ben); Susan Smith Sanders, Stan Smith, and Mike Smith; and beloved friend Dot Leaman.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Trey and Tori Alexander (William), Caroline and Ashley Alexander, Raelynn; nine step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Kirk is predeceased by his brother Bob (Virginia) and sister Nan Gilmer; step-daughter Gina Garcia.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 2 PM, at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Wilson officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Mark Bunnell, Ben Spradlin, Scott Bledsoe, Doug Gilmer, Don Gilmer, and William Ott.

The family is at the home in Forest Hills and will receive friends at the church from 1-2 PM Tuesday afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 550 Highway 72 Bypass NW Greenwood, SC 29649.

Blyth Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting Mr. Alexander's family with arrangements.
