Albert F. "Dutch" Cherne

Albert F. "Dutch" Cherne, age 98, of Wickliffe, passed away November 10, 2025. Mr. Cherne was born October 20, 1927 in Cleveland, OH to the late Frank and Meta (nee Bartsch) Tscherne.

Albert was a U.S. Army Air Corps/Air Force veteran who served during World War II. He retired from the Lubrizol Corporation after working there for 32 years as an electrician and was a resident of Wickliffe for over 60 years.

During his retirement, he often volunteered at Lake West Hospital. Albert was an avid golfer who had a hole-in-one at Orchard Hills Golf Course and also volunteered as a golf instructor for teens. He was an avid skier and instructor at Mount Chalet and Alpine Valley ski centers who took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren how to ski and was also a wonderful dancer.

Albert was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, loved working in the yard and spending quality time with his family, in which he went on many vacations with them to national parks and going fishing with them and his friends.

Albert was the beloved husband of the late Lillian (nee Tegel); dearest father to his sons, Richard (Denise) Cherne and Robert (Shirley) Cherne, and his daughter, Lynn (Tim) Breckner; devoted grandfather of Amy, Emily, Alan and Michelle.

A Funeral Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at THE ORLANDO-DONSANTE-PREVITE FUNERAL HOME 29550 EUCLID AVE., WICKLIFFE, WHERE THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 3:30 P.M. UNTIL TIME OF SERVICE. Inurnment will be in Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield Hts. at a later date.
