Albert Gellerman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hurley Funeral Home - Petersburg on Feb. 2, 2026.
Albert Gellerman, 86, of Petersburg, Illinois passed away on February 1, 2026. He was born on August 1, 1939 in Springfield, Illinois to Homer and Wilma (Zuhlke) Gellerman. He married Mary Ann Grimsley on March 7, 1965 in Greenview, Illinois.

Albert is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Mary Ann; son, Doug Gellerman and his wife Dee Dee; daughter, Amy Stickler and her husband Michael; grandsons, John Gellerman, Brandon Stickler and his wife Alyvia, and Bryson Stickler; and great-granddaughter, Sloane Stickler. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Becker.

Albert was a 1957 graduate of Harris High School in Petersburg, Illinois. After high school, he served in an Army reserve unit based in Fort Leonard Wood. He returned home and spent the majority of his life farming his parent's homestead.

Albert served as President of the church board for St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He also served on the Menard County Farm Bureau Board. Albert loved red tractors, Shorthorn cattle, woodworking, bird watching, and tracing the genealogy of his family.

A celebration of life (open house) will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Riverbank Lodge in Petersburg. A graveside service will be held at a later date for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Menard County EMS or the Petersburg Rural Fire Department.
