Albert Johnson Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 12, 2025.
Albert W. Johnson III, a beacon of unwavering faith and boundless innovation, was called to his heavenly home on November 5, 2025, at the age of 89, in Round Rock, TX. Born on October 25, 1936, in New York, NY, Albert's life was a testament to the love and hope that he embodied and inspired in others.
Albert was a cherished husband of 63 years to Jackie Johnson, proud father to Elizabeth and Beau Johnson, and a beloved grandfather to Jack and Jolie Johnson. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and his love for them was as vast as the universe he helped to explore through his work. He grew up the son of Albert W. Johnson, Jr. and Polly Boettger Johnson, along with his older sister Polly, on a farm near the west Texas town of Moran. He spent many childhood summers with his grandparents in the Catskill mountains. Albert's academic journey was marked by excellence. After graduating from Brownfield High School, where he resided briefly, he attended Texas Tech, where he earned a BS and a Master's degree in Engineering. Here in Lubbock he would meet Jackie, the love of his life. Later, at St. Edward's University, he earned his MBA. His passion for learning was eclipsed only by his passion for applying that knowledge to better the world around him.
Albert's career began in the aerospace industry as a rocket scientist in the most exciting era of space exploration. He contributed his expertise to Chance Vought in Dallas, Rocketdyne in McGregor, and played a pivotal role at Chrysler, working not on cars, but rockets and propulsion systems. It was here at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL that he found himself working alongside Wernher von Braun in the nascent days of the "space race". He then spent most of his career at Texas Instruments in Austin, and this is where Albert and Jackie would begin raising their family. Alongside his technical career, he built several successful businesses. He had a boat shop in Round Rock, a flea market in Georgetown, and built swimming pools and houses as well. Throughout his career he was responsible for many patents, cutting edge in their time, and many still in use today. He still found time for coaching youth sports and taking his family on fishing trips and ski trips.
Albert's faith in Christ was the guiding light of his existence. He was an active member of the Church of Christ and loved to study the Bible. He led devotionals and brought communion to several senior living facilities every Sunday afternoon. He ministered to children's homes in Cherokee, TX and Torreón, Mexico. On a daily basis, as a World English Institute online instructor, he taught students from all over the world. He was the embodiment of love, wisdom, and selflessness. His presence was a blessing to those fortunate enough to know him. Albert left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues.
We celebrate the life of Albert Johnson, a man who leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and innovation. He was an inspiration and guide to us all. We bid farewell to a great and beloved man.
