Albert Lane Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John F Givnish Funeral Home - Academy Rd on Jan. 20, 2026.
Albert "Bud" Lane passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 85. He was married for 66 years to his beloved wife Maryann (Murphy) Lane; a devoted father to Janet Blinebury (Gerard), William Lane (Donna), Michael Lane (Jade), Karen Smith (David), Jennifer Lane, and the late Susan Lane; a loving "Pop" to Gerry, Michael, Christopher, Megan, Nicole, Kevin, Samantha, Jessica, Jacob, Anneliese, Jack, Ryan, Andrew, and Eric; and a cherished great-grandfather to Gwendolyn, Ruth, Lucille, Alice, Abbey, Michael, Nathan, Hannah, Aubree, Warren, Olive, Lucas, Vincent, and Olivia.

Bud was born and raised in North Philadelphia to the late Albert and Margaret Putz. He was a proud graduate of South Catholic High School, Class of 1958. After beginning his working life as a welder, Bud went on to serve the City of Philadelphia with honor as a member of the Philadelphia Fire Department, retiring after a distinguished 29-year career. Bud was considered a jack-of-all trades and was the family handy-man who could fix almost any problem.

Outside of work, Bud enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Monroeton Rod & Gun Club. He especially enjoyed time spent at his hunting cabin in Towanda, PA with friends and local neighbors. Bud also enjoyed family vacations at Wildwood Crest, playing darts and watching the Eagles and Phillies. Known for his great sense of humor, Bud was an honest, patient man who will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and devotion to his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to Bud's Life Celebration on Friday, January 23rd from 10 – 11 AM at St. Christopher's Church, 13301 Proctor Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19116. A funeral mass will follow at 11 AM. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Bud's honor to St. Christopher's Hospital For Children in Philadelphia.
