Al was such a wealth of information, as well as a great person and fine musician. His rapid decline and gentle departure from us is heartbreaking. We always talked and chuckled after rehearsals and concerts. I always listened to his opinions. His observations of life and music and family carried meaning to me. A hole has been created by his loss to all of us who knew him. May the family find peace in what a precious person they had, albeit for too short a time. He was the best.

I had the pleasure of playing in several sax sections with Al through the years. He will be missed. God bless his soul and may He be with his family and friends in our time of grief and sadness.
Be at peace Al, your time of sickness and pain are over.

On the first day dad took me driving on roads outside of our neighborhood, he said "Driving is like baseball. Two hands for beginners."
Dad was smart. Dad was funny. Dad loved all four of us kids so much and was never shy about saying so. In fact, some of my earliest memories are being tucked in and told "mommy and daddy love you very much."
For my entire life, dad has supported and encouraged me, beamed at me like a lighthouse. I´m not sure how to live in the world without that lighthouse. He was my first call when I had a problem or needed to figure out how to do something, and he was always willing to pause what he was doing and chat with me on the phone if I needed help staying awake on a late night drive.
He kept his humor right til the end, making inappropriate jokes in the hospital for his own amusement. He had a complete inability to be anything other than exactly who he was and I will miss him terribly for the rest of my life.
