Mr. Albert Henry Loyd, Jr., age 69, of Sanford, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at his residence.

Obituary

Albert (Chip) Henry Loyd Jr, 69, of Sanford North Carolina died February 26th, 2026, at his residence. Chip was born on December 3rd, 1956, in Albany, GA to Albert Henry Loyd Sr and Geraldine Weeks. Chip was an animal lover like many in his family, and loving animals was a great joy of his, even more so than being a Veteran of the United States Army. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal shelter or the Lee County NC animal shelter in Chip's name. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was preceded in death by his son Jon Loyd; third wife, Cheryl Loyd; parents, Albert Loyd Sr and Geraldine Smith; stepmother, Jean Loyd and stepfather, Patrick Smith; sister, Juanita Loyd Taylor, and stepbrother, Troy Smith.

Chip is survived by his son, Christopher (Jennifer) Loyd of La Crosse, WI; grandchildren, Benjamin Loyd and Madalyn Loyd of La Crosse, WI; sisters, Debbie (Dr. David Runyon) Loyd of Troy, AL, Tracey Loyd Bentley of Pelham, GA; stepsisters, Pamela Loyd Blackburn of Thomasville, GA, Tracey Philips of Yakima, WA.

Chip was an avid NASCAR fan and embodied the Intimidator Dale Earnhardt. Chip served with pride for 11 years 2 months in the United States Army earning an Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and Aircraft Crewman Badge while being an Attack Helicopter Repairer and Special Electronic Devices Repairer.
