Albert "Ruhl" Miller

December 5, 1941 – March 13, 2026

Albert "Ruhl" Miller, a lifelong resident of Wauchula and a man of steady faith and cowboy spirit, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026. Born in Wauchula on December 5, 1941, Ruhl lived a life defined by hard work, service, and a deep love for the outdoors.

A proud 1959 graduate of Hardee Senior High School, Ruhl went on to serve his country in the Florida National Guard. He carried himself with a notable sense of pride and discipline, earning both Marksman awards and the distinction of "Best Dressed Soldier." His faith was his foundation; he was a longtime member of the Zolfo Springs First Baptist Church, where he was also baptized.

Ruhl was, at his core, a true cowman. Whether he was breaking and training horses or working with his favorite cutting horse, Geech, Ruhl was known as a "tophand" who respected the land and the animals he worked with. In his younger years, the excitement of the rodeo-particularly calf roping-filled his days. As time passed, he found peace in the woods, hunting deer and birds with his family and his dear friend, Duck.

In his later years, Ruhl enjoyed the quieter comforts of life: collecting and trading guns, watching Gunsmoke, and listening to the "old time" country and gospel music that spoke to his soul. To his family, he was more than just a cowboy; he was a generous, supportive uncle and a dependable big brother.

Ruhl was preceded in death by his parents, Ira "Tug" Miller and Gladys Holt Miller, and his older brother, John Leland Miller.

His memory will be cherished by his surviving siblings, Betty Lou Miller and Tommy Miller (Wendy); his sister-in-law, Brenda Miller; and close family friend, Frances Paris. He also leaves behind four nieces-Monica Berschneider (Rocky), Angie Coleman (Clyde), Karen Gibson (Tim), and Tammy Miller-along with eight great-nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

As the cowboy rides away to rest high on that mountain, his family finds comfort knowing he has reached his final home.

In accordance with Ruhl's final wishes, a private family service will be held at a future date.
