Albert Neighbors Obituary

Albert Earl Neighbors, Jr.

Albert Earl Neighbors, Jr., 85, of Rustburg, VA passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024. He was the son of the late Albert Earl Neighbors, Sr. and Mollie Shields Neighbors.

He was born on September 11, 1938, in Rustburg, VA. He attended school at Rustburg High School. He then pursued his career as a land surveyor, which he performed his whole entire adult life.

He was a deacon and member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. He served in the Virginia National Guard for eight years and was an active member of the Virginia Association of Surveyors. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports, and loved having his family around.

In addition to his wife, Eunice Fariss Neighbors, he is survived by his children, Hannah Neighbors Shelton (Mark), Albert E. Neighbors III (Melissa), Amy Neighbors Hart (Bill); grandchildren, Jon Eric Shelton, Alexandra Lynne Shelton, Jessica Caitlin Brockett, Nicole Kathryn Hart, Ethan William Hart, Emma Taylor Hart; great-grandchildren, Eric Bradley Shelton, Mia Lynne Pizzichillo, Logan Robert Pizzichillo, Bennett Turner Shelton; siblings, Elsie Harvey (Tom), Joanne Austin (Cecil), Jimmy Neighbors (B.J.), Mike Neighbors (Donna); and many loving friends in the community.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Gene Neighbors, Shirley Strickland, Peggy St. John, Francis Arthur, and Carolyn Layne.

A visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Pate Chapel on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America or the Alzheimer's Association.

I am so sorry for your loss, I remember Al from School, LCA, being in the boosters club with my Daddy, Nolan Burton, and from church, TRBC, I just thought he was the most handsome man I knew, and his wife and children. Just a beautiful family. He will be missed.
