Albert Ruwell

Albert "Al Dog" Ruwell, 75, of Bristol, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 19, 2025. He was born on July 22, 1950 in New Britain, beloved son of the late Albert Ruwell.

Al grew up in Plainville, Connecticut, where he built lifelong friendships and memories. He was a hardworking man from his teenage years on. Al spent much of his life as a roll-off driver for PM Services. In his later years, he enjoyed much of his time at Garret Farms, where his strong work ethic and easygoing nature were appreciated by all who knew him. Al loved music, golf, poker, fishing and sharing his seemingly endless knowledge of just about everything. Growing up during the hippie era, he attended countless concerts and shows; music was always part of who he was. He was known as a laid-back man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Family meant everything to Al. He never missed a family gathering or a sports event for the kids if he could help it. Once you knew Al, you loved him and never forgot him. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed far more than he ever knew.

Al is survived by his brother, Stevie Cothran and his wife, Diane; his cousins, Carole Matteo and Paul Matteo and his wife, Margaret. He was deeply loved by his extended family and many friends. Besides his father, Al is predeceased by his brother, Nickey Cothran.
