Stanley Albert (Big Al) Tinnell, 81, of Shepherdsville passed away at home with his family by his side on May 27, 2025.

Albert was a cowboy at heart. He said he was born 100 years too late and 1500 miles too far East. Some of his happiest times were working on his ranch in Wyoming. He loved riding his horse, Sonny, working the cattle, and making big beautiful bales of alfalfa hay. He was an entrepreneur and a visionary. He owned and operated several businesses with his wife, Linda, and enjoyed working alongside his kids, and many other family members.

In 1961, Albert joined the Army and proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He started helping his dad build houses when he was just six years old and never stopped working. He was in the restaurant business for about 40 years, starting with the Country Kitchen Restaurant on Buckman Street, they ran the cafeteria at Jim Beam Distillery for several years, then owned The Kitchen Family Restaurant on Hwy 44 East. Catering weddings and other events around Bullitt County became an enjoyable part of their business. Albert and his brothers, Donnie and Ronnie, opened Tooheys Auto Supply in Shepherdsville in 1975. They incorporated the business as D.A.R.E. Inc., which stood for  Donnie, Albert, Ronnie, and Ernest Lee. Albert later sold that name to the current national D.A.R.E. program for $1. He was humbled that their business name was going to be used for such a great project. He also owned several other successful businesses including three other auto parts stores, Big Al’s Bar, Barnyard Country Store & Diner, and Linda’s Cafe/Al’s Back Room. Albert always worked hard, played hard, and loved BIG! He was always there to give someone a helping hand, a job, or great advice.

Albert's love for his family was clear and present each and every day. He offered strength, wisdom, guidance, comfort, friendship, and sometimes the hard truth. He gave it all with a big loving heart. Albert was a Baptist by faith and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Albert and Jesse Lorene Tinnell, sister, Joyce Stamps, brothers, Larry, Ernest Lee, Ronnie, and Donnie Tinnell. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Linda Bleemel Tinnell; his loving children Sonya Humphrey (Mike), Harley Tinnell, his baby-Jaime Blanc, and Stanley, all of Shepherdsville; his beloved grandchildren Justin Tinnell and Miranda Humphrey; great grandchildren Mckenzie and Tyler Blanc, and Noah Poma; sister, Elaine Cundiff; brother Danny Tinnell (Robin) his sisters in law Linda Tinnell and Fonda Tinnell; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2025 at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Greg Crenshaw. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Shepherdsville. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m.,  Sunday from 11 -8 p.m. and Monday from 9. a.m. till time of service.
