Albert Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 6, 2026.
Albert Wright, the richest man his family ever knew, not in wealth, but in the immeasurable relationships he built throughout his remarkable 93 years, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, surrounded by his cherished wife of 71 years and loving family. While our hearts grieve this profound loss, we find comfort and joy knowing that Al has been welcomed into his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
As a father to four daughters, he was nothing short of their hero. He set the gold standard for what it meant to be present, supportive, and endlessly caring. His daughters were his pride and joy, and he was their rock and biggest champion. His sons-in-law didn't just respect him; they admired the man who showed them daily what true dedication to family looked like.
Known affectionately as "Sonny" by his mother Jennie Kerr, who raised him with values that would define his entire life, Al became the hardest working person anyone knew. His career spanned service at Cambell Soup, Reynolds Metal Aluminum, DuPont, and British Petroleum, where his mechanical and maintenance skills were invaluable. But his work ethic extended far beyond his professional life. If something was broken, Al could fix it; nothing was beyond his ability to mend and make whole again.
Al was a faithful servant leader who dedicated his life to serving his country in the Army National Guard, his community through countless acts of service, and his church as a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Glenolden. His hands built 11 homes with Habitat for Humanity, and his generosity touched countless lives.
His 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren knew a grandfather who showed up for every milestone and taught by example what it meant to love unconditionally. He passed down not just his mechanical skills, but his values: hard work, integrity, faithfulness, and the importance of family.
Al found joy in life's simple pleasures: boating and waterskiing with family, fishing and crabbing, golfing with friends, and cheering on his Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. His years were well spent between homes in Folcroft, PA, Rock Ledge, Florida, and the Marmora, NJ shore, each place filled with memories of family gatherings, laughter, and love.
He was a man of faith whose hard work and generosity were known by all, and everyone who met Al left better for having known him.
Al is survived by his beloved wife Virginia; his four daughters Deborah Hadden, Linda Morris, Norma Teta, and Alice Donohue; his sons-in-law who loved him like a father; his 10 grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy; and his 15 great-grandchildren who will grow up hearing stories of the legendary man their Pop-Pop was.
Visitation will be held 9 am Thursday, January 15th with service 10 am at First Presbyterian Church of Glenolden 2 Chester Pike Glenolden, PA 19036
Burial will be private.
Donations in his honor can be sent to Memorial Fund C/O First Presbyterian Church of Glenolden, 2 Chester Pike Glenolden, PA. 19036 would be appreciated.
