Albert R. Yob

Albert R. Yob "Al", age 83 of New London, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Al was born on February 20, 1942 in Raton, New Mexico to the late Peter and Silvia (Bertol) Yob. In his younger years he worked at his parent's grocery store in Raton, New Mexico. He was united in marriage to Nancy Radtke on June 8, 1968 in Kalamazoo, MI. Al served his country in the US Army from 1960 – 1963. After finishing his time in the service, Al went to Southern Colorado State for higher education. After college, a career at Tyler Refrigeration brought him to Niles, Michigan and then Westerville, Ohio. Al then started his own company, SurTemp. He returned to Tyler Refrigeration in Niles, Michigan, retiring in 2001. Al continued working in his retirement, until he turned 67. Later in retirement, they moved to New London to be closer to family. He volunteered at St. Mary's Church Food Pantry in Niles and with the senior center in New London. Al loved to cook and loved to host Thanksgiving every year. He was a friend to all. Everyone loved "Al".

Al is survived by his children, Lynne (Chris) Muller and Larry (Diana) Yob; grandchildren, Ashley (James), Amanda (Steve), Justin, Hanna, Sara (Matthew) and Grace; along with his great-grandchildren, Heather, Holden, Hudson and Robert and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his siblings, Vinco (Marie), Peter (Alice), Annie (Red) Martin, Louie (Barbara), Bruna (Jerry) Voegele and Lena (Charles) Musso.

The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. David Hoffman officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial be will be at a later date at Lindsley Cemetery, Cheshire Center, Allegan, MI.

In keeping with Al's spirit of giving to the church and community, in lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to St. Mary's Christian Food Service Center and Food Pantry – 322 Clay St., Niles, MI 49120.
