Mrs. Alberta Lusane Dowdell

Mother Alberta Lusane Dowdell of Tampa, Florida passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, 11:00 am at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606 with Dr. B. R. Fulton, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Mother Alberta Lusane was born on January 23, 1934, in Sumpter County, Georgia, to the parentage of the late Mr. Robert Lee Lusane and the late Susie Mae Johnson. She was raised with love and care by the late Mrs. Ruby Lee Lusane.

She met the love of her life, Freddie Brown Dowdell and married on June 26, 1953. Upon this union of 16 years, six children were born. She was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She loved her family and made sure that all of their needs and all of their wants were met.

She attended the public school system in Sumter County, Georgia. Throughout her adult life, she held jobs at Holiday Inn as a Housekeeper for 15 years. She also volunteered over 23 years as a foster grandparent with Seniors in Service, In Hillsborough County at Brighter Community Preschool. As a lifetime caregiver, her skills, diligence, and willingness to help others won her much recognition and many admirers.

Mother Dowdell was a faithful and dedicated member at Greater Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church in Tampa, FL for over 55 years. She served in the Mother's Ministry, Women of the Church Ministry, Floral Ministry, Usher #2, and Sunday School Class #2 until her death. Her most revered role in the church was a Mother's Ministry in which she served faithfully for many years. She was a quieted spirited, loving, caring, and humble woman who was a servant of God. She enjoyed attending church virtually as well listening to Dr. Charles Stanley.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Ms. Susie Mae Johnson, Mr. Robert Lee Lusane, and Ruby Lee Lusane; husband, Mr. Freddie Brown Dowdell; children, Jessie, Priscilla, and Magnolia Dowdell; other family members, Daisy Underwood, Henry Lusane Sr., Antonio Dowdell, Elizabeth Dowdell, and Patricia Davis.

Beautiful memories will be forever cherished by: her children, Willie Dowdell, Lashun Dowdell, and Patricia Dowdell, all of Tampa, FL; brothers, Willie Lusane, Eddie Lusane, Howard Lusane (Janice), and Lawerence Lusane (Edith) all of Americus, Georgia; sister, Ruby Mae (Robert) James of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Michelle (William), Kim, Gerrod Sr. (Shaquanda), Angel, Lashuna (Robert), Dion, and Patrice (Georgio); great grandchildren, Angela (Anthony), William Jr, Keyshawn, Znae, Angelika, Deja, Ivyonna, King, Rhea, Christian, Re'Nyiah, Geo, William III, Eli, Georgio Jr., and Gerrod Jr.; Godchildren, Gloria Fowler and Terri Griffin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted friends, The Greater Mt. Moriah Family, and the Lusane, Lembrick, Walker, and Mann Families.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
