Alberta Poole Grant was born on September 18, 1933, in Stephens County, Georgia, to Hansel Poole and Leacher Poole (Goodine). She entered into eternal rest on September 13, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by her family.
Alberta will be remembered for her unwavering faith, sense of humor, strong constitution, and for being the matriarch of her family. Throughout her life, she was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren, a loving wife, and a loyal friend to many. She found immense joy in creating, whether sewing an elaborate quilt or baking the most delicious cakes, her hands were truly blessed by God. She delighted in watching old dusty westerns, cheering on Bobby Cox’s Atlanta Braves, and, in her later years, solving word search puzzles. She devoted over 25 years to Toccoa Nursing Home, where she was an esteemed caregiver and deeply cherished by residents and colleagues alike. After retiring in 1995, she traveled and lived around the world before settling in Powder Springs, Georgia, where she spent the remainder of her days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Menford Grant; her siblings William, Viola, Edna, Sam, and Phillip; her daughter Sabrina; her son-in-law Walter Morgan; and many precious family members and friends.
Alberta is survived by her daughters: Teresa Morgan, Althea [Randy] Rayford, Chandra [Brooke] House, and Myra Rucker. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Sheral [Diana] Morgan, Larissa Morgan, Reagan [Torrey] Thompson, Julian [Aleese] Rayford, Amber House, Apryl House, and Krystal Rucker; eighteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones; as well as her beloved grand-puppies. Her legacy will endure for generations to come, a testament to a life filled with laughter and love.
