On April 24, 2025, Alberta M. Jagoda passed away peacefully at age 91 after living a long fulfilling life. Alberta joins her husband Andrew S. Jagoda who passed away April 2, 2013. Alberta is survived by her three children, Andrew E. Jagoda, Clinton Township, MI; Stanley J. Jagoda, Goleta, CA; and Susan R. Jagoda, Orcutt, CA; grandson Andrew J. Jagoda and his wife Victoria, Orcutt, CA.
Alberta cared deeply for her family and neighbors. With her generous spirit, she was always the first to offer help and host holiday gatherings. She also assisted sick friends and neighbors as they aged.
Alberta was a wonderful cook and baker. Her talents in the kitchen included dishes influenced by her Italian heritage, and Polish dishes honoring her husband's family, in addition, she whipped up other ethnic cuisine enjoyed by her family. There was always something good to eat in the refrigerator or freezer.
Alberta and Andrew were matched by other family members who arranged their meeting and eventual relocation to the Santa Barbara, CA area where she lived from 1953 to 2025.
Alberta worked as a seamstress as a newlywed when she first arrived in America and after the children came, she cared for them. Later, she provided childcare in her home for others and then worked as a housekeeper in the hotel industry for over 40 years. When she finally stopped working outside the home, she spent time traveling, and visiting with friends and family, crafting, and knitting and crocheting. There are many babies who warmed their feet with her knitted booties.
