Alberta Elizabeth Jones, born on February 12, 1931, passed away on September 20, 2025. She reunites with her beloved husband of 49 years, Lewis Jones, and her children G. Michael, Rodney, Jamie Wise, and Catherine Jones, as well as grandson Hakim Williams and great-grandson Gee Chisley.
Alberta was raised in the Washington, D.C. area and graduated from the District of Columbia School System. She dedicated her career to the Federal Government, retiring from the United States Department of the Navy.
Known for her gentle demeanor, Alberta loved crocheting, singing, needlepoint, and reading, particularly enjoying the works of Agatha Christie. She also loved playing Scrabble, favored the color purple, and adored butterflies.
She is survived by her children, Diana Jones Taylor and Amin Abdullah; eight grandchildren, Delano Corbin, Cheryl Jackson, Aisha Wise, Wantu Wise, Anissa Jones, Kameelah Robinson, Rashidah Wise, and Ein Aston; eighteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; and cousin, Barbara Taha. Her memory will be celebrated by her loving family and friends.
