Congratulations to Alberto and Maria Iacchetta on their 50th Wedding Anniversary
Maria Scaduto was a young woman when she arrived in the USA in 1959 from the town of Bagheria in the province of Palermo, Sicily. Her husband to be, Alberto Iacchetta, had arrived four years earlier, in 1955, from Celano, a small town in the province of L' Aquila, in the Abruzzi region of ltaly.
Two different times, two different locations from whence they came, but nothing stopped them from meeting at Thomas Jefferson High School in 1960. One year later, on May 20, 1961, they were married at the Annunciation Church, followed by a lovely reception at the Crescent Beach Hotel and a wonderful honeymoon in their native Italy. With that special date, the duo started a long-lived life together that lead them to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary this year.
As a dedicated couple, they have been living in Greece, NY for most of their 50 years of marriage. Alberto worked at Eastman Kodak Company from where he retired after 30 years of service. Maria spent 17 years working at the Genesee Hospital. They were very busy parents with four lively boys to whom they took much pride in providing a college education.

After their retirement, Alberto and Maria bought a second home in in Florida, where they spend the winter months. "I love our lives in Century Village in West Palm Beach. We have many great friends from Rochester there and we enjoy being snowbirds with them," Maria said.
