Aldona Rubillo, a beloved wife, caring mother, adoring grandmother, and steadfast friend, passed away on February 8, 2025 after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born on May 2, 1942 to the late Izabele and Casimir Bartasius in Uzventis, Lithuania, Aldona brought kindness, gentleness, warmth, care and quiet strength to all she met.
After an early childhood as a wartime refugee, she and her brave mother and brother came to the United States and settled in Philadelphia. She attended St. Casimir's elementary school, Villa Joseph Marie high school, and Immaculata College, where she made lifelong friendships. After graduating college, she worked as a mathematician at General Electric, doing calculations for spacecraft reentry systems.
In 1965, Aldona married her husband, Jim. They settled in Willow Grove where they lovingly raised their three children, Michael, Beth, and Chrissy. As a mother, she was caring, attentive, supportive, steadfast, protective, and occasionally silly. In 1999, Aldona's life and love grew without bounds when she became a grandmother for the first time. "Mom Mom" enjoyed spending time with each of her six grandchildren, Izabelle, Harris, Daphne, Silas, Liam, and Charlie. She was warm and affectionate and up for anything the kids would have her do, including the log flume.
Aldona was particularly devoted to the Blessed Mother and spent many hours sitting with the Blessed Sacrament. She cherished her Lithuanian heritage and was generous to many charitable causes. Aldona loved to sew and played tennis weekly. She enjoyed her strong friendships with her "Mother's Club" and regular birthday luncheon group. In her final years, her kind spirit endured as she brought her smile, gentleness, and sweetness to the staff and fellow residents at Cherry Springs. She passed peacefully, leaving a legacy of resilience, connection, faith, love, and joy.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Jim Rubillo, beloved children, Michael Rubillo (Margaret Mary), Beth Allbrook (Bill), and Chrissy Bisceglia (Jaime), her adored grandchildren, Izabelle, Harris, Daphne, Silas, Liam, and Charlie, and her brother Stanley "Bart" Bartasius (Joanne). She is joined in rest by her mother, Izabele, her father, Casimir, and her dear aunt and uncle Helen and George Reins, along with many other loved ones and friends throughout her life.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Thursday February 13, 2025 at 10:30am at Queen of Peace RC Church, 820 N Hills Ave, Glenside, PA 19038. There will be a visitation from 9:30am to 10:15am before mass.
Interment will be private
