Born on August 29, 1946, in Villaldama, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to parents the late Felipe Aguirre and Gertrudis Alvarado. He was still enrolled at Southwest Texas Junior College at the age of 19, when he was drafted into the U.S. Army (Co “B”, 9th Medical Battalion, APO SF 96371) and served as a Combat Medic during the Vietnam era from August 12, 1966, to November 1, 1967. Under harrowing conditions, he delivered lifesaving care to his fellow soldiers, earning respect and gratitude that followed him long after his military years. Awards and medals were the distinguished Combat Medic Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Alejandro also worked for numerous years as an Offshore Operator Medical Corpsman for Halliburton. Known for his steady presence and selfless heart, Alejandro was genuinely kind and served as a mentor to many youths in his community. His home was a refuge, his advice often life-changing, and his loyalty beyond measure. Alejandro was also a father figure to many of his extended nieces, nephews and godchildren. Throughout his life he shared many stories infused with humor and quiet wisdom. Alejandro’s greatest gift is the love he gave, the lives he touched in the most exemplary manner.
