Alex was born on April 20th, 1925, in Lithuania. He was the youngest of eight children. During WWII, his family left their home country fleeing from the Russians. He left with his parents and one brother traveling through Poland in a horse drawn hay wagon to Germany. Alex was forced into working for the Nazis and spent a day digging trenches for them. He spent many years in Germany's displaced person's camps after the war. He came to America in 1949 with his parents and brother, where he settled in Indiana. He worked at Inland Steel later called LTV Steel in East Chicago, Indiana and retired from the company after 38 years. He lived a bachelor lifestyle into his 40s, spending his free time traveling to almost every state, fishing, caring for his cats, making krupnik, collecting, and building things. In 1975, he finally settled down and married his wife Dale, or Dolly at St. Casimir's Lithuanian Church in Gary, Indiana. They lived in Merrillville, Indiana until they moved to Broomfield, Colorado in 1988. They spent their years together playing cards, dancing, fishing, traveling, mushroom picking, gardening, and being active members in the Colorado Lithuanian Community, St. Casimir's and Nativity of our Lord Church. He lived a great 98 and a half years with a smile on his face, even at the end. Sveikata (Cheers) Sudieu (Goodbye)

We always enjoyed Alex at all the family gatherings. I loved talking to him about mushroom hunting. Fishing. Great stories, but he never told me his secret spots. He always had a smile on his face, always making jokes. He will be missed.love Wayne and Wendy
