Alene Sollis, of Blair, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on March 10, 2026. The family will formally greet friends from 4:00 – 6:30 PM on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Kincannon Funeral Home. Alene was the epitome of a woman well loved, and her tender care will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Alene was born on November 17, 1948, in Harrison, Arkansas, to Charles J. and Allie (Story) Gates. Even from a young age, Alene had a natural gift for caring for others. She married Bobby Dewight Sollis on March 12, 1966, at Pirtle Church in Peach Orchard, Arkansas. Through Bobby’s service with the United States Air Force, the couple eventually made their way to Altus, where they later settled and made their home in Blair.
A faithful member of Martha Road Baptist Church, Alene greatly enjoyed attending church activities and visiting with friends and fellow members. Her warm, grandmotherly nature was perfectly suited for her twenty-year career as a childcare provider at Grace Child Development Center. Alene dearly loved her children and grandchildren, and treasured time spent sewing and baking, especially when those moments were shared with the generations that followed.
Alene’s life was defined by her unwavering love for her family. She found joy in the simple moments, sharing a meal, rocking her grandchildren, or offering a listening ear to someone in need. The love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of those she nurtured and cared for throughout her life - her husband of almost 60 years, Bob; sons, Steve Sollis and Tim Sollis; daughters, Erica Sollis, Emily Wood, Julie Kyle, and Melanie Turner; grandchildren, Hailey Sollis, Brandon Smith, Haley Friesen, Aaron Sollis, Brandon Sollis, Caitlyn Sollis (Cody), Sienna Sollis, Jaidyn Sollis, and Kierstyn Browder; great-grandchildren, Everlyn Sollis, Holly Friesen, Izzak Sult, Hunter Browder, and Brantley Browder; siblings, JoAnna Young, Patsy Jackson, Jean Spain, and Charles Gates, Jr.; and a host of other family members and friends.
