Aletha Yearwood Porter

Aletha Yearwood Porter, age 72, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Mrs. Aletha was born to the late James and Mary Jean (Myers) Yearwood in Commerce, Georgia on July 5, 1950. She loved the Lord deeply and shared His Word with everyone who came in contact with her. She loved to sing, so much that she traveled with her family to the surrounding areas to sing in churches. She was well known for crocheting all of her grandchildren’s baby blankets. Her dogs Sadie and Bandit were her pride and joy. At home, they enjoyed watching Western movies or Gospel singings on TV.  Aletha was kind, loving and led many people to the Lord. She will be deeply missed.    She is preceded in death by her above-mentioned parents; husband, Roy Eugene Porter; brothers, David Yearwood and Bryan Yearwood; and sisters, Peggy Penland and Elaine Skinner. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Willard; son and daughter-in-law, James M and Michelle Willard; son, Paul Willard; children, Donald, Ricky, Mike, Eugene, Tony and Sandy Porter; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends.
