It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alethea M. Smith, aged 73, of Chamblee, Georgia, who departed this life on February 27, 2025. Born on May 29, 1951, in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Charles Marshall and Irene Smith, Alethea lived a life rich in love and resilience, nurturing a warm and welcoming home as a devoted housewife.
Alethea was married for 54 wonderful years to her high school sweetheart Robert Smith, who she cherished deeply until his departure this past November 2024. Despite facing health struggles throughout her life, her spirit remained unyielding. She found joy in the simple pleasures, whether it be shopping with friends, savoring delightful meals, or cheering for Georgia Tech Football.
A loving mother, Alethea is survived by her son, Bradley Smith, and daughter Marilyn, as well as her three beloved grandchildren Kevin, Elin, and Erik Smith, who brought her immense pride and joy. She will also be missed by her sisters, Judy Warren and Sequoyah Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews including Rebekah Gilliard and Benjamin Davis who filled her life with love and laughter.
Alethea's family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on March 4, 2025, with a funeral service at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel at 11:00 AM, preceded by a visitation at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at North Atlanta Memorial Park, located at 5188 Winters Chapel Road, Atlanta, GA 30360. Additionally, there will be an evening visitation on March 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the chapel.
Alethea M. Smith will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her, remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she so freely shared. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
