Alex was one of the first people that my son, Alex, met at Telos. And the relationship grew through that year. Alex left a big impression on my son. He was a mentor and a friend. My Alex said he was changed for the better because of Alex. I am so grateful he had that time with him. We are so very sorry for your deep loss.

Alex was the first person I met when I moved into the neighborhood. He welcomed my family and I and immediately gathered a group to help us move in. I remember instantly liking him. He carried that quiet, steady confidence of a man who was both strong and kind. From that first impression I was left with the clear feeling that our move to the neighborhood was the right thing for our family.

From that first meeting until my last with Alex, I count myself eternally lucky to have been one of "his people." He became my friend and an example to me of how a man should live as a disciple, a father, a husband, a friend. I loved Alex and was lucky enough to get to spend time with him. We served in the youth program together and he always showed up. That was his way. He never did anything f half way. He was so reliable and genuine in everything he did. He was also a person I could be vulnerable with knowing he would never make me feel embarrassed or take advantage of the situation. He gave me sage advice about one of my grown kids I was having trouble with.

I will miss Alex´s hugs, he was a great hugger. I will miss his easy smile and the warmth he exuded. As I grieve with so many others, I am reminded by Alex´s example that "all will be okay" and that the best way forward is to love others and serve them as Christ did. I will strive to live like Alex.
