Reverend Alex Ogden Moon Jr.

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Reverend Alexander "Alex" Ogden Moon, Jr., age 88 of Pendergrass, Georgia who entered rest Friday, March 13, 2026. Reverend Moon was born in Atlanta, Georgia a son of the late Alexander Ogden Moon, Sr. and the late Louise Cook Moon. Reverend Moon retired from Delta Airlines, was an ordained Baptist Minister who pastored several area Churches over the years. Reverend Moon attended Academy Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church, and was the speaker on the "Witness for Christ" radio program for over forty years. Reverend Moon received a Bachelors Degree from Georgia State University, was the owner/operator of Moon Memorial Service and along with his late wife owned a Poultry Farm in the Fairview Community of Jackson County. In addition to his parents, Reverend Moon is preceded by his wife Fay Donaldson Moon, brothers, Clyde Tallent and Roy Tallent and sister, Barbara Jones. Reverend Moon was a devoted messenger of the word of God and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include five sons and their wives, Donald Moon (Carol) of Jefferson, Tim Moon (Patty) of Gainesville, Steve Moon (Tammy) of Gainesville, Mike Moon (Sandra) of Gainesville, and Lee Moon (Tammy) of Lula. Thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters in laws also survive.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 17, 2026 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Eric Shelton and Reverend Steve Burrell officiating with burial to follow in Evans Memory Gardens. Grandchildren honored as pallbearers are Eli Moon, Caleb Moon, Luke Moon, Jonathan Moon, Charlie Moon, Adam Moon and Jarrett Warren. Great grandchildren honored as honorary pallbearers are Jackson Thornton, Boden Moon, Riley Moon and Zedediah Moon. The family will receive friends 4:00 – 7:00 Monday, March 16, 2026 at Evans Funeral Home.
