Alexander Aubin Obituary

Alexander H. Aubin, 94, of Vermontville, NY, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025. Born in Saranac Lake, Alex lived a long, hardworking, and deeply meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, his craft, and the simple joys he loved most.

Alex was a master carpenter and woodworker, and he took great pride in the work he did throughout his lifetime. He renovated many homes in his life, but his pride and joy was the home he shared with his wife for more than 25 years on Hope Street, a place he shaped with the same care and craftsmanship he brought to everything he touched. Alex was a retired veteran and someone who stayed active well into his later years. Even into his 90s, Alex could be found mowing the lawn, tending his garden, or snow blowing the driveway.

He loved golf, New York Giants, good food, and the outdoors. Animals always held a special place in his heart, and he treated them like family members, sometimes preferring their company over people. Alex had an infectious sense humor and a touch of that classic Frenchman spirit. He cherished simple pleasures and found comfort in familiar routines. At 6 pm sharp, the news was on, and everyone knew to keep the noise down just a little. Gardening was also a passion. His award winning wall garden at Willow Way apartment complex became a favorite sight in the neighborhood, admired and enjoyed by many.

His greatest joy was his wife of 40 years, Sharon. His devotion to her showed in everything he did. In their younger years, they were often found at Casa, sharing margaritas or someplace dancing the night away. As the years passed and life settled into a quieter rhythm, their connection only deepened. No longer on the dance floor, but side by side on the porch, taking in the view and simply enjoying being together.

His love for his children was reflected in the lessons he lived every day, showing them what it meant to be a steady provider, a caretaker, and a man of his word. He instilled in them a strong work ethic, the value of kindness, and the importance of showing up for the people you love. Through his actions more than anything, he taught them how to stand tall, work hard, and treat others with respect.

Alex is survived by his wife, Sharon Aubin; his children April, David, Dirk, Dean, and Stephanie; his grandchildren Daniel, Elizabeth, Jarred, Michael, Dawn, Amanda, and Alexis; his great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Violet; his son, Alec; His brother Noris and his sisters Anne Grant, Janice Bombard, Hallie Ohmann, and Mary Ohman.

Alex will be remembered for the life he built, the family he loved, and the quiet strength and dependability that shaped the man he was.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, on Tuesday November 18, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM. A funeral service will immediately follw at 2:45 PM at the funeral home with Rev. John Yonkovig officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
