Hello,

We wanted to let you know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We are sending Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Alexander B. Crackel US Army Staff Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family
On Behalf of our US Hockey Players Support Our Troops Campaign

Thank you Alex, as a tribute, here I am as the Team Leader/Sniper Alex Crackel

I had the distinct honor to serve with this man in Germany. 1 ID, (Big Red One)in the early 2000's he was a great person and a great drummer. I still have the CD he gave me of 80's heavy metal band Bad News. (He always had a great sense of humor). I did not listen to it until I was back in the states and I understood at that moment why he gave that to me. It is just how he was. We had great conversations over beers at the local watering hole about dumming, he actually replaced me in my band for a while when I left. A7V was an American cover band that played many shows. He was such a wonderful person and I know he went out fighting. RIP my friend and I always light a candle in your honor on memorial day here in the states. See You later Brother!(the Photo is the mercenary team portrayed in the Web series we are doing. I am the one with the sniper rifle and my name is Alex Crackel)

When I hear someone use the word "fearless," usually metaphorically, I can only shake my head, and remember this man I barely knew. Compared to him, no human being could have demonstrated less fear.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
