Alexander Gittelson Obituary

Alexander Gittleson
Alexander Gittelson was born on May 24 1931 in Leningrad USSR to Maria Altman, an English teacher, and Arkady Gittelson, a screenwriter and theater director. Much of his adolescence and young life coincided with the war and post-war years in the Soviet Union, tumultuous times that forged his views of opposition to the Soviet orthodoxy, and inspired his life's work, after his move to the United States, as that of a broadcaster at the Voice of America for many years. Mr. Gittelson is survived by his wife, Natalie Kramer, his daughter, Olga Hiiva, his son, Alexei Gittelson, and three grandchildren, Zoya and Max Teirstein, and Innokenty Gittelson.
