CANFIELD - Dr. Alexander J. Vrable of Canfield passed away unexpectedly on June 18, 2025, at the age of 71. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. He leaves behind a legacy of care, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to the well-being of others. He was beloved by everyone who met him, a fantastic father, a great husband and a best friend to all walks of life.
Born in Campbell Ohio, on July 20,1953, he was the son of Alex and Mary (Stanovcak) Vrable.
Alex dedicated his life to the service of others, both in his professional calling as a physician and in his unwavering devotion to his family. A graduate of Campbell Memorial High School class of 1971, he earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Westminster College, before pursuing his medical degree at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was a family practice physician for over four decades, earning the respect and gratitude of countless patients and colleagues. He served as chief of staff at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital and enjoyed the yearly excursions with his osteopathic colleagues. He trained and mentored numerous student doctors through his participation in the Centers for Osteopathic Research and Education (CORE). An avid golfer he found joy and peace on the golf course, enjoying the camaraderie with his fellow golfers. One of his proudest moments came when he hit a hole-in-one on the 11th hole at The Lake Club. When not golfing, he enjoyed sporting events, gardening and playing in his monthly card club. For many years he coached high school and travel hockey teams. He also served as physician for Campbell Memorial High School football team and Golden Gloves Boxing.
A devout Catholic, Alex lived his life in faithful service to God and others. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church and although his physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
Alex is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Annette (Lipari), a partnership rooted in deep love, laughter, and unwavering support, his son Dr. Alex Vrable of Fayetteville, NC, daughter Dr. Abby Vrable (Vincent Thompson) of Hudson, OH, and sister Janet Malutic. He was preceded in death by his son Michael Vrable, his parents, his sister Diane Dattilo and his in-laws Judge Jack and Antoinette Lipari.
