Alexandrina Josephine "Alice" Capuano

Alexandrina Josephine "Alice" Capuano, 92, died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. She was the widow of Anthony Capuano, Sr. They had been married for 66 years at the time of his death in May 2023. She lived in Cranston until her marriage to Anthony when they moved to Johnston.

Born in Providence, the youngest child of the late Domenic Antonio and Caroline (Lanni) Archetto, she was predeceased by her siblings: Francis, Alfred, Vincent "James", Phillip, Michael, and Maria "Etta" Archetto and a granddaughter, Dana Capuano.

Alice was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family, and a devoted wife to her husband. Lifelong sweethearts, Alice and Anthony did everything and went everywhere together. They would spend time with their siblings over dinner, playing high-low-jack, visiting Aunt Carries in Narragansett or the Jamestown beach house. Each week they'd head out to Chelo's for their "date night," with her brother-in-law, Vito and sister-in-law, Adelaide, a long-standing tradition that they maintained for many years. Anthony was always ready with a joke, and Alice was always ready to playfully scold him.

Alice's kitchen was always full and bustling. She loved company, and often welcomed family and friends into her home for coffee, cookies or supper. No one went hungry on Alice's watch. She was always quick to offer second helpings, another cup of coffee, or an extra dessert to anyone sitting at her table.

Alice and Anthony loved to attend the activities of their children during their childhood and adolescence, and this extended to their grandchildren as well. They were always ready to encourage interest in their many literary, music, sporting and school events. Alice always reminded her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that they could do anything if they put their minds to it, and she was there to guide them as they worked through difficult homework assignments, listen to them recount recitals or sports try-outs, or ask them questions about things they read or watched.

There was no event Alice and Anthony wouldn't attend, showing up at St. Philips School, La Salle Academy and even Union College for music recitals, track meets, and many basketball, lacrosse, football games and cross country meets. She and Anthony would brave the cold to watch late championship football games against Hendricken in chilly December.

Alice took care of everyone around her. Her first thought was always for her loved ones and their well-being. She was quick to offer her love and support, whether it was in a kind word and good advice, filling their plate with their favorite meal, or just with a tight hug. She will truly be missed.

Alice is survived by her children: Anthony Capuano, Jr. and his wife, Charlene Mary Winfield, Roberta Marie Capuano and her husband, Thomas Heffernan and Michael Joseph Capuano, her grandchildren: Mary-Catherine Josephine Capuano, Caroline-Rose Alexandrina (Capuano) Hart and husband, Devlin, Vito-Joseph James Capuano, and Anthony-Robert Vincent Capuano, Michael Capuano, Allison Capuano, Domenic Capuano and Nicholas Capuano, and the great-grandmother of Daniel Clifton Hart and Ellidy Winfield Hart.
