Alexis Nicole Bantz, daughter of Nick and Stephanie (Whisler) Bantz, was born January 24, 1995, in Papillion, Nebraska. Growing up, Alexis attended school in Auburn, Oakland, and Trenton, Nebraska. She graduated high school in 2014.

Very athletic as she went through school in many sports, Lexi qualified three times for the PP&K team championships in Kansas City and won the national championship in Pittsburgh in 2004.

Lexi had a fondness for basketball, volleyball, softball, track, fishing, and camping, and a real passion for dogs. She worked with her Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa Mickey at their greyhound farm, Mickim Kennels in Underwood, Iowa. Her duties included training, care, and control of the dogs, as well as upkeep around the farm. Alexis was also responsible for taking care of the dogs at the Greyhound Park in Council Bluffs, warming up, training, and preparing the dogs for the races. After moving back to Auburn, she worked with her dad Nick and his construction business, Bantz Quality Builders. She then helped to get the business “Calm and Collective” up and running.

Alexis passed away unexpectedly at her home in Humboldt, Nebraska, on Sunday, April 27, 2025. She was preceded in death by her dogs Keely and Zoey Ann, and her grandpas Larry H. Bantz and Mickey Canapp.

She is lovingly remembered by her parents Nick Bantz of Auburn, Stephanie (Mike) Apple of Ogallala; sister Charli Jo Apple (fiancé Thomas Kahman) of Fairfield, NE; grandparents Cheryl Canapp of Auburn, Becky Whisler of Auburn, Jeff Whisler of Bay City, TX; aunt and uncles Lindsay (Jeremy) Boyce of Tekamah, Kessler Whisler of Auburn, Jace Whisler of Bay City, TX, Tye Bantz of Auburn; great grandparents Jim and Marilyn Blex of Nemaha; significant other Kolton Bond of Humboldt; her fur-babies Ellie May, Zoey, Rusty, Bella Ann, and Champ; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Auburn Christian Church. Burial will follow in Bedford Cemetery at Howe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from noon to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00.
