Alfonzo Montgomery

Alfonzo Montgomery Sr. was born October 18, 1959 in El Dorado, AR. Alfonzo was the 3rd of 9 children born to the late Claudia Faye Thigpen Rodgers. Alfonzo grew up and attended Watson Elementary, Rogers Junior High, and El Dorado High School, where he completed his education through 11th grade. Alfonzo was a man whose jokes, laughter, kindness, and joyful spirit touched the hearts of everyone he met. Known for his humor and comical personality, Alfonzo had a way of bringing smiles and light to every room he entered. He was truly the life of the party, full of love, compassion, and genuine care for those around him. He had a special love for children and a deep devotion to his family. Alfonzo worked a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime. For 30-plus years, he worked for Green Construction until his health failed.
Alfonzo married Nancy Stanley (Montgomery), at the age of 22 and to this union 2 children was born. They separated early on in their marriage but continue to share a lasting friendship and mutual respect.
Alfonzo is preceded in death by his parents, David Montgomery Sr., Claudia Faye, and Stepfather, Clarence "Bud" Rodgers Sr. Grandparents; Tommy & Trudie Mae Thigpen; Brothers; Clarence Jr "Bubble", Victor "Marsetti", Quentin "Nut", & Keith Bishop Rodgers; Sisters: Carolyn Rodgers and Carolyn McClelland.
Alfonzo leaves to cherish his memories; Children: Co'Wano Stanley (Las Vegas), Alfonzo Montgomery Jr. (Minneapolis), Melinda &Tavio Edington (El Dorado); Grandchildren; DeyjaJuan"DJ" Johnson (New Jersey ), Royalty & Nyema Montgomery (Minneapolis) Melajah, Malayah, Tavio Jr., Jatavio, and Taleah Edington ( El Dorado); Great-grandchild; E'Mya Edington (El Dorado); Brothers: Anthony "Tony" & Cori Rodgers (Strong), Mario (Keitha) Rodgers (Conway), David Jr.(Rachel) & Derrick (Shalonda) Montgomery (El Dorado); Sisters: Sharon (Cleodis) Gatson (North Little Rock), Beverly (Harold) Fooster (Pine Bluff), Tara Vache McHenry (Strong), Alice Rodgers Cato (Antioch, CA), Sue Ann (Jerome) Jenkins (El Dorado) Special Friend; Melody Loyd (Strong), host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Though there is too many to name individually, each was cherished by Alfonzo, and his love and memories will live on in all of those who knew him.
