Alfred Paul Caesar - Loving Husband, Devoted Father, Cherished Grandfather, and Valiant Patriot - a man whose life story was woven with threads of faith, family, hard work, and unwavering love. Born on May 1, 1944, in Lafayette, Louisiana to Ferdinand and Ledia Caesar, he began a journey that would leave an indelible mark on the hearts of those around him.

Growing up in the embrace of the small town of Soileau, Louisiana, Alfred attended schools that shaped his early years - Soileau Community School and Oberlin Elementary School for Coloreds. It was in these years that he found one of his best friends, the Honorable Judge Calvin Botley, whom he never had an argument with. Alfred attended Carver High School, where he graduated in 1962. A man of sturdy character and a strong work ethic, Alfred knew the value of hard work from a young age, toiling in the fields alongside his family. It was in these years that he found his lifelong best friend,

His path led him to service in the United States Army, where he bravely stood alongside his brothers, Val and Alfin, in the tumultuous landscape of the Vietnam War. Post-war, Alfred embarked on a dedicated career in the plant industry at ConocoPhillips, where he forged a lifelong friendship with one of his best friends, Gerald "Wash" Washington. His commitment to service extended to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, ABC School, and Sowela Technical College after retirement, leaving a legacy of excellence in every role he undertook.

Central to Alfred's life was his beloved wife of 57 years, Ophelia "Tinye" Caesar, with whom he shared the joys and challenges of raising three children - Bridgette, Lydia, and Victoria. His grandsons, Lorenzo and Collin, were the apple of his eye, bringing immeasurable happiness and pride into his world. Alfred's devotion to his family was profound, his presence a guiding light that illuminated their paths with wisdom, laughter, and unending love.

An ardent protector and promoter of his Creole culture, Alfred's soul found solace in preserving traditions and passing down stories of his heritage. His annual co-hosting of the Courir de Mardi Gras in Metro Soileau was a testament to his commitment to community and culture. His bond with Andrew Cezar and Olivia was a cherished connection to his past, allowing him to revel in shared memories and traditions.

A man of many talents, Alfred's love for zydeco music led him to the airwaves, where he shared his cultural roots with the world alongside Lawrence "Black" Ardoin and later with Lawrence's son, Sean. Alfred's reach extended far beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of godchildren, nieces, nephews, and honorary children with his generous spirit and unwavering support.

Alfred's impact rippled through the community, fostering friendships and connections that spanned generations. A man of unwavering faith, he led by example, instilling values of love, dedication, and service in all he encountered. Alfred's departure on November 20, 2025, leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion that will forever linger in the hearts of his loved ones.

In the wake of his passing, Alfred is survived by his beloved wife, Ophelia Caesar, daughters Lydia and Victoria Caesar, grandsons Lorenzo Caesar and Collin Rene, all of Lake Charles, LA; brother Melvin Caesar of Lafayette, LA; a host of family members, godchildren, friends, and a community that was forever touched by his presence. His memory will be cherished and honored, his spirit a guiding light for those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Alfred enjoyed memberships in the following organizations: Lifetime member of the DAV; Honorary lifetime member of the third degree of the Knights of Columbus; Religiously devoted and patriotically proud fourth degree Knights of Columbus, honorary lifetime member, where he held various positions including Recorder and Deputy Grand Marshall; Lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 7321.
