Alfred F. Daubendiek, Jr., 82, of Beatrice passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Beatrice Good Samaritan Society. He was born on January 25, 1943, in Beatrice, to Alfred and Wilhelmine (Buss) Daubendiek, Sr., and graduated from Beatrice High School. In 1964, he met Phyllis Rosenthal and they married on September 12, 1965. They were blessed with two children, Richard Allan and Kaye Lynne. Later they divorced. On July 5, 2008, Alfred married Maria Mora with whom he spent his remaining years. Alfred loved farming and farmed all his life until his health declined. He also liked to hunt. His greatest joy was traveling to Costa Rica with Maria. They lived there during Nebraska's coldest months and would come back in the spring with coffee.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Daubendiek; son, Rich (Glo) Daubendiek; daughter, Kaye (James) Oblinger; stepchildren, Rafael Sanabria and Gabby Cox; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Gerhardt (Sandra) Daubendiek; sister, Mavis (Kenneth) Stratton; sister-in-law, Beverly Daubendiek; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Wilhelmine Daubendiek; brother, Armin Daubendiek; sister, Floice Meyer and her husband, Victor.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Travis Panning officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery of Beatrice with military rites conducted by Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the Beatrice American Legion. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m., on Friday, in the chapel at St. John Lutheran Church. The body will lie in state from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Fox Funeral Home. The family will meet and greet relatives and friends on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
