Alfred Wilbur Hinote, also lovingly known as Freddie, peacefully passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 66 in Foley, Alabama. A native of Baldwin County and a longtime resident of Styx River, Freddie was born on March 1, 1959, in New Jersey. He spent his life pondering, building, fixing, creating, and caring in ways that left quiet but unmistakable marks on those who knew him.

Freddie worked as a truck driver in his youth before devoting himself to the craft of handyman work in his later years, a path perfectly suited to his gifted hands and curious mind. He loved working with wood and stone. He possessed an uncanny ability to understand how things were built and how to make them whole again. He could put anything together, and just as easily take it all apart, always learning, always exploring. He lived simply and humbly, a quiet man from whom generosity and gentleness flowed naturally and without expectation.

Freddie approached life with the heart of an artist and the mind of a casual philosopher. He loved God, Jesus, nature, and the long conversations – even sometimes arguments – he carried on at various times with all of them. He thought deeply about purpose and meaning, often questioning his own impact on the world.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur McElvis "Mackie" Hinote; his mother, Annette Juanilene Weekley Lansing; his half-brothers, Kazzie McElvis Glennwood Hinote and Arthur "Artie" Hinote; and his half-sisters, Deanne Portie and Victoria Hinote.

Freddie is survived by his daughter, Melissa Hinote Kandel (Aaron) of Germantown, Tennessee; and his cherished granddaughters, Addison Kandel and Aubrey Kandel, who adored their Pawpaw with all their hearts. He is also survived by his siblings, Steven Wright (Becky), Glenn Wright (Susan), Cindy Maxwell (Victor), Doug Wright (Martha), and Kathy Haynes (Scott); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private family interment will take place at the Hinote Cemetery in Rosinton, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Prodisee Pantry (9315 Spanish Fort Blvd., Spanish Fort, AL 36527), a cause that reflects Freddie's lifelong instinct to give to others quietly, freely, and without fanfare.

Freddie will be deeply missed by those who knew him. He leaves behind fond memories and a broad network of family and friends whose lives he impacted more than he could know.
