Mr. Alfred L. Mitchell

Mr. Alfred L. Mitchell was born March 19, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Rube and Louise Sanders-Mitchell. He passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in his home at the age of 85, with the Lord and Savior as his witness. He was a graduate of the Edward Drummond Libbey High School and was an Honorable Discharged U.S. Army Veteran after which he became active in the Hyatt-Allen American Legion Post #538 and the International Benevolent Protective Order of Elks #129. As a skilled tradesman in the field of pipefitting and plumbing, he continued to hone his skills at various work sites to include the W. C. McKitrick Mechanical Contractors, Inc., Gulf Oil/Catalytic Construction Company, Shaker Mechanical Contractors of Cleveland, Ohio, Johnson Plumbing and Heating, Burt Whitehead and Sons Plumbing and Heating Company and lastly worked as a pipefitter for the Babcock and Wilcox Construction Company at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1. Mr. Mitchell was an avid fisherman as well as an expert swimmer. Preceding him in death were parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rube and Louise Sanders-Mitchell; siblings, Melvin T. "Skip" Mitchell, Sr., Vera Belle Mitchell-Daniels, Eugene Mitchell, Ruby Mae Mitchell, Mildred Mitchell-Wright and Willie J., George, Harley and Damon Mitchell. He is survived by son, Alvin E. Mitchell (Major League Baseball Alumni, Cincinnati Reds); daughter, Janice Cosper; granddaughter, AF Master Sgt. Anitra Towns and a host of other loving family and kind friends. A Family Hour/Wake will be 10 a.m. followed by Funeral Services at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Calvary MB Church, 702 Collingwood Boulevard.
