Alfred Carroll Rhoades

Alfred Carroll Rhoades, age 79, of Hillsdale, Michigan, and Bethel, Vermont, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Hillsdale. He was born August 3, 1946, in Bethel, Vermont, to Harold and Joyce (Butterfield) Rhoades. Alfred married Amiletta (Petrie) Sturtevant on April 5, 2020, and she survives.

Alfred graduated from high school in Bethel, Vermont, and from Woodstock College earning a degree in agricultural studies. He drove truck for over thirty years and also enjoyed cattle farming for many years. Alfred's happy place was on his farm in Vermont, where he enjoyed making maple syrup in his sugar house and logging with his Dad. He also enjoyed tinkering on projects around the house and the farm.

In addition to his wife, Amiletta "Ami" Sturtevant, Alfred is survived by four children, Paul Blow, Kevin Blow, Christina Sauber, and John Rhoades; and nine grandchildren.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Steve Rhoades.

There will be no services at this time for Alfred Rhoades. Arrangements have been entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
