Alfred Silvano Obituary

8/18/1931-10/1/2024

The world lost an American hero on 10/1/2024. Alfred James Silvano was born in 1931, and enlisted in the U.S. Army at the young age of 17. After serving bravely and being wounded twice, he was awarded two Purple Hearts for his service.

Al witnessed the horrors of war firsthand, describing the devastating effects of communism and the relentless aggression of Chinese and North Korean Soldiers. He spent 30 days in a hospital recovering from his wounds before returning home to his family. Al went on to become the Secretary and National Commander at Military Order of the Purple Heart for many years.

He is survived by his two sons, Mark Silvano of Baltimore, MD and Bruce Silvano of Boynton Beach, Fl. He was preceded in death by Joann Silvano Pelikan and Theresa Silvano Malinowski. Al was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Al was also a beloved neighbor, known for his grass cutting skills on his John Deere, and his visits to his neighbors on his golf cart. He was a kind and gentle soul, a true gentleman, with a deep love for South Carolina and his beautiful home surrounded by nature.

Al will be remembered for his courage, his compassion, his astounding work ethics, and his unwavering dedication to his country. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.

Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 21st, at 1:45 PM EST at:

Our hearts hurt at the loss of this sweet, sweet man. We were fortunate to call him our neighbor but truly blessed to call him our friend and part of our family. He will always hold a special place in hearts.

As first cousins, Al was Freddy to us. My father Alfred/Freddy Silvano loved him like a son and was always proud to have him as his namesake. We have wonderful memories visiting Freddy & Marge and playing together with Joanne, Mark, Theresa and Bruce. And many memories of Freddy bringing bushels of crabs to us in Mt. Carmel where the 2 Freddy´s cooked the crabs and treated all his Silvano aunts, uncles and cousins. Welcome to your heavenly home, reunited with the people you love and love you. You will be truly missed.
