Alice was a great friend. My late wife Colette and I helped with the Caring Tree that Alice championed. We had great times at dinners with her and John. Rest in Peace dear friend.

Alice, JoAnn and Billy were our upstairs neighbors for a while on Carpenter St. in Visitation parish. Anyone who´s read even a small sampling of Alice´s writing is likely familiar with the working class carnival that was "Vis". She had the kind of eye necessary to encapsulate that time and place. What a beautiful writer. And an even more beautiful soul.
Rest in Peace, Alice. You deserve it.
With love and great respect from the Hennigan family.

My condolences to the Collin´s Family on the passing of their beloved Mother, Grandmother, & Great Grandmother. I had the privilege of meeting Alice when I was a Senior & she was a Freshman at Visitation High School in 1954. I was chosen to be Alice´s "Big Sister", an honor, great joy, and fond memory that will forever be remembered!
Rest in Heavenly Peace beautiful Alice, in the arms again of your sweetheart, John

I work at Peace village as the director of rehab, and her Physical therapist. She was and will be one of my ultimate favorite residents to have the privilege of working with. She cared for me and was always interested in my family and other residents before her needs, she will be greatly missed at Peace village!

Dear Collins Kids, Grandkids and Great-Grandkids....

THANK YOU for always sharing Alice Marys' OVER-Generous Irish Spirit and Joy with any/every one.

The stories are endless. She would chronically take the shirt off of her back to make someone else's life easier. Even if that translated into perpetual left overs for you all. She and your dear father; John, were a perpetual source of love and joy for anyone who would respect their generous moments of intentional engagement. Alice ALWAYS cared about what anyone ever shared. She never half listened. But, of course, that was where she collected her stories for Cookies & Chaos!

Her plate was always full. Yet few knew. As she engaged with every soul as if she was the Angel Gabriel. It was her duty to listen, understand and share. She was the messenger. And She WAS THE MESSENGER!!!

As you all know, my mother Sis (Margaret) met Alice while they were both attending Chicago Teachers College in the Loop. My parents left Chicago in the mid-60s and returned in the early 80's. They returned after becoming grandparents and bearing 9 children. That resulted in most people never knowing who was who or what was what. EXCEPT FOR ALICE COLLINS. I'd walk through family parties in my early teens and be shocked that anyone knew my name. And it was always Alice! She would make anyone feel seen.

Her glowing full body blonde hair will live on. Her spirit and energy will resonate through all of you whom have made her endlessly proud. Thank you for sharing your mother with all of us throughout your life. Please let me know when any of you come through Denver as I'd love to have you over for dinner.

Many blessings and prayers for your hearts.
