Mass of Christian Burial for Alice Deutz, 86, of Marshall, will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Monday, one hour prior to the service, 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. Alice Irma (VanVooren) Deutz was born on March 30, 1936, in Minneota to Rene and Irma (VanVlaenderen) VanVooren. She grew up in Minneota, attended St. Edward Catholic School through eighth grade and graduated from Minneota High School in 1954. After graduation, she worked for Simons & Gregoire in Marshall. Alice was united in marriage to Ted Deutz on February 8, 1958. The couple raised their five children on the farm east of Marshall. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of them and her family was her legacy. She also enjoyed time spent with friends. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and Yahtzee and time at the Senior Center.
After a brief illness, Alice died on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, surrounded by family at the Prairie Home Hospice McLaughlin House in Marshall. She is survived by her son Tim (and Jennifer) Deutz of Marshall, grandchildren Vanessa (and Cody) Fettig, Troy (and Liz) Deutz, Max Deutz (and Abby), and Eden (and Hunter) Gillund; son Charlie (and Dawn) Deutz of Lynd, grandchildren Lyndsie (and E.J.) Adams, Jordan (and Brienna) Deutz, Paige Deutz, Dereck Deutz, and Dawsyn (and Alyssa) Deutz; daughter Karen (and Tom) Bofferding of Marshall, grandchildren Sam (and Macey) Bofferding, Jaime Bofferding, and Beau (and Melody) Bofferding; son Bob (and Kelly) Deutz of Marshall, grandchildren Ashley (and Josh) Sammons, Adam Deutz, Jared (and Miranda) Deutz, Cory (and Rachelle) Deutz, and Olivia Deutz; daughter Nancy (and Anthony) Orsmond of Colorado, grandchildren Chris Orsmond and Brielle Orsmond; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted and sister Irene (and Harry) DeVos.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Home Hospice & Community Care.
