Alice Drabant Obituary

Alice Drabant

Alice Drabant, 85, of Locust Grove, Va., passed away on May 17, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

Born Alice Antaki in the South Ozone Park section of Queens, N.Y., in 1937, she spent most of her youth in Floral Park, N.Y., where she was an active member of Our Lady of Victory Parish. Alice attended Sewanhaka High School and participated in a number of clubs, including National Honor Society, before graduating in 1956.

Alice met the love of her life and best friend, Jim Drabant, at a USO dance on Long Island and the pair later married in 1961. In the years that followed, Alice raised their young family as Jim's IBM career brought them from Long Island to Jackson, N.J., Lexington, Ky., East Greenwich, R.I., Camillus, N.Y., and Oakland, N.J. During that time, Alice completed her Associates Degree in Applied Science at Onondaga Community College and operated a successful accounting practice as an Enrolled Agent with the IRS, for many years in Northern New Jersey before she and Jim retired to their lakefront home in Lake of the Woods in Virginia.

Alice's upbeat personality, infectious energy and sense of humor were fueled by her love of spending time with family and friends. A daughter, sister, wife, Mom, "Grandma," friend and colleague, Alice was a force of nature who committed her time and energy to the support of others to include serving as a Volunteer at the Orange County (Va.) Sheriff's Office.

In addition to being predeceased by her parents, Gabriel Antaki and Alyce Seyfried, as well as her sisters, Rita (Montaperto) Pracht and Margaret (Montaperto) Webb, Alice is now also reunited with her son, John J. Drabant, who went home to the Lord in 1966.

Alice is survived by her husband of 62 years, James R. Drabant; as well her daughters, Elizabeth Drabant, Janet Drabant and Susan Murray; a son-in-law, James M. Murray; and four adoring grandchildren whose lives always have been and always will be filled with Grandma's love.

Alice's loved ones look forward to being joined by family and friends in a celebration of her life at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, Va., Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Friends of the Poor, 155 West 22nd Street, New York, NY 10114-1168, https://www.stfrancisfriends.org.
