Alice Ruth Garrett
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend
Sunrise: 03/21/1951 - Sunset: 08/26/2025
On March 21st of 1951, the sun rose on our beloved family member, Alice Ruth Garrett. Alice was adopted and raised by her Mother and Grammie, and went on to raise five children of her own. One of Alice's strongest values was family. Family to her was anybody she loved, and she loved so many wonderful people. If you had a place in her heart, you had a place in her family.
An extremely close second though, was nature. Every moment she could, she spent outside on nature walks. Her passion was volunteering at state parks. Alice was awarded many honors for her work. She volunteered over 5,000 hours at St. David Schools, historic Fairbanks, Amerind Museum, the Tombstone Court House, and Kartchner Caverns. All a labor of love, every hour of work unpaid and every effort made of passion and interest.
When she was in nature, she was surrounded by love. The only thing on Earth that took more priority was spending time with her children and grandchildren. That was her best example of love, of how much she loved, and how much she was loved. When her time came to return to heaven, it was peaceful, knowing her legacy would carry on through her family who loved her so very much. Alice only knew love, and that love brought her peace. The peace her sun needed to set.
Alice persevered through many challenges in her life. She was able to overcome these challenges through the support of her family and her faith in the LDS church. She was an active member, taking on various roles of leadership. One of Alice's favorite roles was Cannery Specialist. She spent many hours working alongside fellow church members canning food to distribute to the community.
Words can never do enough justice to express the pain in all of our hearts from the loss of this amazing person. We find comfort in the belief that she exists now as our guardian angel, and also the belief that families are forever. We will be reunited someday. Until then, may your Heavenly family embrace you in eternal happiness and peace, till we meet again, Mommy.
Memorial services to celebrate Alice's life will be held on Sept 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the LDS Church in St. David on 640 Historic Route 80, Saint David, AZ. 85630. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Kartchner Caverns.
