Obituary of Alice Pauline Heisey
Alice Pauline Heisey, born June 8, 1933, of Elizabethtown, PA, entered into the presence of her Savior on Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born in Martinsburg, PA, she was the youngest daughter of the late Avery O. and Fannie R. (Stern) Kanode. Alice lived a life marked by unwavering faith and quiet strength. Her trust in Jesus shaped her life and guided her every step. Married on Easter Sunday, April 18, 1954, Alice was a faithful wife and devoted mother, raising her family in the love and truth of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, David, and their four children: Spencer (Joyce) Heisey of Elizabethtown; Wayne (Simone) Heisey of Elizabethtown; Marian (Peter) Dimmig of Saranac Lake, NY; and Julie (Dudley) Reese of Friendsville, TN. Her joy multiplied through her grandchildren: Jennifer (Paul) Schmidt; Conrad (Caitlyn) Heisey; Brandon (Clair) Dimmig; Brent (Olivia) Dimmig; Gordon (Allison) Dimmig; Solomon Heisey; Derek (Olivia) Heisey; Mary (Carlton) Seward; Johnny (Natalie) Reese; Nathan Reese; Josiah Reese; Lydia Reese; Anna Reese; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters, Lois (Glenn) Smith and Beulah Charles, and was preceded in death by her siblings Isaac, Arthur, Avery Jr., Elizabeth Kanode, and Ruth Fees. Alice remained connected to her extended family, and her love and care stretched to her many nieces and nephews. Alice was hardworking and efficient - always ready to help with a project, prepare a meal, or share a lighthearted joke. She brought energy and fun to everything she did, whether working behind the scenes or hosting a celebration. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for her quick wit and endless supply of jokes. She enjoyed a good card game, cheering for the Phillies, and gathering with friends for bowling, luncheons, and flower club meetings. She also had a remarkable talent for handcrafts, appliqueing and quilting more than a dozen full-size quilts.
In every season of life, Alice brought beauty and grace to all she touched - from supporting her husband's business, to working in real estate and interior design, to operating West Ridge Guest House, the first bed and breakfast in the Elizabethtown area. As an innkeeper, she welcomed guests from near and far with warmth and kindness.
Alice was a member of Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church. She was a lifelong attendee of Roxbury Holiness Camp, from childhood through her later years - a cherished place that nurtured her faith and served as a gathering spot for many family members. She leaves behind a loving family and a life that reflects the goodness of God. Alice lived out the gospel through a forgiving heart and a joyful spirit.
