Alice Leberknight Obituary

Alice Leberknight

July 7, 1945 - July 11, 2025

Alice L. Leberknight, 80, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025

Alice Leanna (Steever) Leberknight was born July 7, 1945, in Huron, South Dakota. Her early years in Huron were filled with family and her love of horses and barrel racing.

She moved to Rapid City in early adulthood, where she met Wayne Leberknight. On February 4, 1967, they were married in Huron, SD, and blessed with four awesome children, Lesa, Marty, Michael, and Kady. Alice raised their children and cared for Wayne through his over 20-year battle with multiple sclerosis.

She enjoyed spending time with her family in the Black Hills, especially playing games and cards, fishing, camping, gardening, and flowers. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing projects for others. But her all-time favorite days were filled with visits from her children and grandchildren.

Alice will be greatly missed by her family which includes her cousin (sister) Bernadean McGee, four children, Lesa (Art) Koscielski, Marty (Jill) Leberknight, Michael (Jeni) Leberknight, and Kady (Mike) Schmitz, all of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren Taylor (Sarah) Hagel, Riley Hagel, Ashley Hagel, Tristen Leberknight, Owen (Eleanor) Leberknight, Hunter Leberknight, Annie Leberknight, Megan Hagel, Jordan Hagel, Brettly Schmitz, James Schmitz, Alivia Mitzel, Brett (Heather) Grosz, Drew (Linnea) Grosz, Brady Wauer, and Nick Koscielski; great-grandchildren Evelyn Hagel, Teegan Grosz, Maddie Grosz, Theo Grosz, Olivia Grosz, Terry Grosz, and Isabella Grosz; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her parents, Roy and Esther Steever, brothers David (Joey) Steever, Freddie Hunter, and Duane Hunter.

Services will be held at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home on July 17, 2025, starting at 3:00 p.m. The service will be followed by cake, pie, and coffee at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice.
