Alice Mayville

Alice Mayville, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on November 20, 1932, to Esther and Ralph Silverthorn, Alice lived a life full of love, warmth, and kindness. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles Mayville, with whom she shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family, and a home filled with laughter, fun and sweet treats. Alice was the cherished mother of Charlene (deceased), Ron (wife Peggy), and Alyson (husband Steve). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brittany (Ricky) and Steven (Maria). Alice was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris and Shirley. She was a beloved aunt to many, including her niece Linda, and shared a special friendship with Claudia, who brought her comfort and joy. Alice's first love was always her family. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-reading, baking, and sharing stories. Her legendary Christmas cookie tradition, where she baked over 1,000 cookies each year to share with friends and family, was a testament to her generous spirit and love for others. Known by all as the sweetest person, Alice had a gift for conversation and always made time for those around her. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle humor touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers at Rocky River Village for their compassion, kindness, and support during Alice's final years. A private family service will be held to honor her life. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, Westwood Abbey Mausoleum in North Olmsted, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a kind word, a warm memory, or simply take a moment to enjoy a cookie in her honor.
