Alice Kendall Morell, 71, of Vilonia, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in her home February 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Alice was born November 27, 1954, in Chestertown, Maryland to Jack and Vera Mae Kendall. Alice graduated from Chestertown High School in 1973, then attended Vennard College in Oskaloosa, Iowa, with a focus on elementary education. After returning to Chestertown, she received specialized training in respiratory therapy, working in that field for several years.
While attending First Baptist Church of Chestertown, Alice met and later married the love of her life, Larry Joe Morell, September 15, 1979. In the ensuing 46 years, Alice devoted her life to her family, her church, and her work. She was a beloved wife and mother, who decorated the perfect birthday and wedding cakes, stitched countless costumes, drove endless miles, and always made Christmas a day to remember.
Alice loved all aspects of teaching. She taught and then directed Vacation Bible School for several years. In the public school system, she volunteered as a room mother, providing help to the students and relief to the teachers. She taught computer literacy to all grades at St. Johns Catholic Church in Russellville, Arkansas, teaching skills essential to academic success.
Alice had many varied talents which she applied in service to others. She enthusiastically supported school choirs, serving as president of the choir boosters and chaperoning many a trip. Alice directed several church musicals, creating beautiful backdrops and rich costumes. She designed and oversaw the construction of two of her homes. She excelled at organization and administrative procedures and applied these talents at her church by chairing committees, cooking Wednesday night meals, and serving as office manager.
Alice and her husband retired to Vilonia, Arkansas, in 2019 to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her husband, Larry Morell, of Vilonia, AR; her daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Roberts and her husband, Rev. William (Zach) Roberts, of Batesville, AR; her daughter Andrea Newsom and her husband, Brent Newsom of Vilonia; and her grandchildren Johnathan (John) Roberts and Lauren Roberts of Batesville and Kenneth (Kenny) Newsom and Kendalyn Newsom of Vilonia.
A memorial service in her honor will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026, 1:30 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home Conway Chapel, 1751 Dave Ward Drive, Conway, AR, 72034.
