Alice was my "Thia Aliki," my wonderful aunt. I was the flower girl at her wedding to my Uncle Mike. Visiting her in Chicago was a big deal for a little girl who knew nothing of the city. I was in awe of the "L" rumbling by the building. I am still in awe of her devotion and the family spirit she nurtured throughout her lifetime. She was a guardian of family stories and history, offering photos in comfort to me after my mom passed away. I will remember zest for life and her laugh which was ever present each time I spoke with her. Thia Aliki, I love you. You will remain an inspiration to me.
